Awantipora
Awantipora is located near the Jammu highway, 30 km south of Srinagar. This place is home to several Hindu temples, wherein the Avantiswamin Temple is the most popular. Although built in the 9th century, today it stands in ruins, in its former glory. The stone blocks stand massively with numerous column bases. However, most of the carvings have long been defaced.
